This is Robin Sykes for WOKV 106.9 FM. Welcome to my segment called nonprofit organizations that are bringing relief to families during this pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating for many people where they have lost jobs or been furlough, having financial difficulties, not having enough food, their children going to school online, etc. Nonprofit organizations such as churches, sororities, fraternities, motorcycle clubs, veteran motorcycle chapters, etc. Has stepped up to the plate to bring relief to families during this pandemic. For example, Georgia Advancing Communities Together, Inc is a statewide membership organization of nonprofit housing and community development organization. They have stepped up to the plate by keeping families in their homes during this pandemic. This radio story script will educate the reader on how Georgia ACT brought financial assistance to families, why they need to get this financial assistance, and nonprofit organizations playing a fundamental part in their communities.
I interviewed Bambie Hayes- Brown, the CEO of Georgia Advancing Communities Together, Inc, also known as Georgia ACT. She told me what her organization did to bring relief to families during this pandemic. “We provided rental assistance to households who lost income to the COVID-19 pandemic; we also offered up to $1, 500 to over rental costs and mortgage costs to those who had a reduction or lost their job.” Mrs. Brown also said,” Families in Georgia already had trouble paying their rent or mortgage.”
Nonprofit organizations play a fundamental part in building healthy communities by offering essential assistance that adds to financial stability, mobility, and crisis. They additionally strengthen communities in other significant manners. As often as possible, nonprofit organizations are the voice of the people they serve. Thank you for listening to nonprofit organizations bringing relief to families during this pandemic. I am Robin Sykes for WKOV 106.9 FM, and have a happy day.
